What Is a PDO Thread Lift?
PDO is short for “polydioxanone.” This is a biodegradable polyester suture. PDO threads are inserted into the skin using small, blunt-tip needles. This causes microscopic injuries that lead the skin to produce more collagen, improving the appearance of the skin. After about six months, the PDO threads dissolve completely. The treatment is done with anesthetic and causes little to no discomfort, and can be completed in as little as a half an hour.
What Do PDO Thread Lifts Do?
PDO threads are used to tighten skin on the face, neck, and body. As soon as the threads are placed in the skin, your skin will be lifted and you may see better contouring of the face. After a month or two, you’ll see the full effects as collagen is produced, plumping skin and smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. Depending on your results, you may need to undergo a second treatment about six months after the first. After this, you will not need treatment again for three years.
Benefits of PDO Thread Lifts
There are multiple reasons this procedure is growing in popularity. Here are just a few.
- Minimally Invasive
Unlike traditional facelifts, PDO thread lifts are nonsurgical and minimally invasive. That means they require very minimal recovery time and less risk.
- Natural-Looking Results
One particular concern we often hear from customers is that they don’t want to look like a different person. That’s why we’re so excited to offer this option. It provides more natural-looking results than other cosmetic procedures, and it gives patients a more rejuvenated, youthful appearance that is subtle but beautiful.
- Versatility
Not all patients have the same concerns. We can tailor the procedure to target the area of concern for each individual patient, whether that’s the jawline, neck, cheeks, or eyebrows.
